Sure, it’s exciting to see which movies will win an Oscar at the Academy Awards, but something else that is exciting is seeing everyone dressing in their finest and walking the red carpet.
Will anyone wear something shocking? Will there be something so beautiful it can’t be believed?
We have our favorites, and we are going to share them! Here are our picks for the top 10 best outfits at the 2020 Oscars:
1. Scarlett Johansson in Oscar de la Renta
Scarlett Johansson wore a stunning custom gown of a subtle pewter color. It featured a shoulderless fringe bodice and floorlength satin skirt.
2. John Cho in Ermenegildo Zegna
What can you do to make men’s fashion on the red carpet more exciting? What John Cho did. He took the basic suit look but made it a burnt pumpkin color with a black shirt, and no socks.
3. Natalie Portman in Custom Dior
The black and gold gown was nice enough, but what was really outstanding was the cape she wore with it. The floorlength cape was embroidered with the names of female directors who were snubbed by the Academy.
4. Janelle Monae in Ralph Lauren
Monae wore an elegant and romantic silver colored hooded gown, encrusted with rhinestones. Drama!
5. Margot Robbie in Chanel
There is the classic contrast of blond hair, dark red lips and bare shoulders. What elevates this look are the long, flowing armbands of this vintage dress.
6. Mahershala Ali in Ermenegildo Zegna
Ali takes the usual men’s formal look and gives it a twist.
His jacket has lapels, but doesn’t button in the usual way. It is tied off to the side. Everything is black, from head to toe, except for a silver chain necklace with a discreet pendant.
7. Regina King in Versace
Her simple gown is very elegant, with a winning combination of colors. Soft pink and silver go together so well. Form fitting and geometric, one shoulder has a strap and the other is left free.
8. Brie Larson in Hedi Slimane
The sequins on this gown are softened by its light pink color. It combines a lowcut gown with a floor length cape. It was designed by Hedi Slimane for Celine.
9. Maya Rudolph in Valentino
Maya is a comedienne and not usually associated with glamor. But when you have a gown with sequins, that is what you get.
Her gown had long sleeves and was free flowing. What was unexpected was the color. An amazing orange color that worked.
10. Spike Lee in Gucci
Spike Lee stood out in a purple suit with yellow accents and a black bow tie. Besides the colors, his suit stood out because it was a tribute to Kobe Bryant, with his number, 24, on the jacket lapels.
To finish the look, he wore orange Nike sneakers and a purple commander style hat.
All of the stars at the Oscars wore amazing styles. But we could only choose so many, so these are our picks.
