There is something about being constantly told “you make time for things that are important” that just doesn’t make it easier to make time for those things you’ve been meaning to do. Fitness and healthy living are always those things that fall to the wayside because there’s just not enough time in a day.
We know that making time for healthy habits can feel impossible, which is why we’re here to share some tips and tricks to fit these elements into your schedule. It’s all about balance, multi-tasking and time management.
Here are the 5 hacks that will help you get healthy while saving you time:
Exercise with a Friend
It’s no secret that moms are busy. It’s enough of a challenge to block out an hour out of the day for one task, so often times you are choosing between two things. Next time you find yourself choosing between getting in your exercise or meeting with a friend, bring the two together! Suggest to your friend that you two go for a run or take a class so that you can get in a workout and be social at the same time!
Smoothies
Consistently being told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day doesn’t make it any easier to facilitate it. It may be the most essential meal, but it’s the most challenging to fit in. Moms have a crammed morning schedule that tends to not leave much room for anything else.
Fortunately, smoothies are the perfect solution to your problem! Smoothies can be made the night before and are super easy to grab on the go. You can drink in driving your kids to school or doing your morning groceries!
Walk your Child to School
If you have the option to walk with your child to school, do it. This may be out of the question for moms rushing to get to work – or if you live far from school – but if you live in walking distance and have that little bit of time in the morning, walking with your kid to their school is the perfect way to get in some movement.
At Home Workouts
YouTube alone has countless workout videos that you can modify and do on your own time. It can be a challenge to designate time to get to the gym, which is where at home workouts come in handy! You can do them anywhere, and at any time.
Try to get in a 15-minute workout while dinner is cooking! Multi-tasking is key when it comes to time management and getting in all those things you want to do in a day.
Find a Gym with Daycare
Making time to go to the gym is a struggle, but it’s a lot easier if your gym has daycare! You can have your kids do fun activities like swimming, and then utilize the daycare when it’s time for your own workout.
If you organize your time and can comfortably work out knowing your kids are supervised and dinner is already made at home (thanks meal prep) this is a totally feasible weeknight routine.
Meal Prep
We saved the most obvious for last. Meal prep forces you to get those healthy ingredients and actually make meals out of them. On a Sunday (or whatever day works for you) line up meals for yourself and your children.
You can still keep things fresh! Just choose what meal elements you want to do the day of and which you want to prepare for. An easy method is to pre-chop fruits and vegetables and pre-marinate meat so that half your job is done when it’s time to start dinner.
