So this week we’re talking about a theoretical magical fifty-dollar guilt-free shopping spree. And by “spree” I mean “holy shit, $50 doesn’t get you very far, does it?”
But here are three items under $50 that I covet immensely.
These magnet board thingies. I love repurposed mosaic-y style. A stylish messes.
One of these purses from Black Bags. Except they’re more than $50 and I can’t decide which damn print I want.
The Middletons Plates by Poketo. I want these so bad it actually makes my loins ache. I just can’t justify spending $40 on four melamine plates.
I don’t spend money on myself very often. In fact, most of my splurgy purchases have been cloth diapers. What the hell is wrong with me?
Back when I worked full time I definitely got myself something every week. And it wasn’t something to stick on my baby’s ass. A pair of shoes or a shirt, whatever. (Though nothing particularly extravagant.) I’m a fan of retail therapy but there’s a fine line between shopping making you happy and making you writhe with guilt.
(I spend way more money on food and wine than on stuff.)
Do you reward yourself with shopping? Or do you reward yourself with free time or a guilt-free snack or cheating on your workout routine? I do all sorts of stuff to sneak a happy thought into my day. Skipping the gym. Staying up past my bedtime. Having four cookies.
It’s the “non mommy” stuff, whether it’s buying a cute tee shirt or going for a walk BY MYSELF that help me remember that I’m still the same individual I was ten years ago. I’m just older, I shower less, I forget to shave my legs, my boobs are saggy, and my spending priorities have changed immensely.
Remember to share the love. Visit. Read. Comment.

SPEAKING of spending things, Eden Fantasys, the sex toy shop I infamously love and affiliate myself with is sponsoring a $25 gift certificate prize for one Girl Talk Thursday participant. One participant will be drawn at random on May 8th. You get an entry for every time you’ve participated and every time you participate between now and next week, so get cracking this week and next for two more entries! You MUST leave your post on the Mr. Linky for your entry to count.
You can has disclosure? Eden Fantasys sponsored my flight to BlogHer ’09, where I will promote them and share fun discounts and enjoy copious shenanigans. I choose to work with Eden Fantasys on my blog because I love the fact that they promote healthy sexual expression.
