no kisses at school, only hugs

The chipmunk learns pretty quickly. This was the morning before school started. We had a waffle-picnic on the floor.

Today I finally moved the couch and got the letters out from behind them. Evidently my in-laws let him throw them all back there, and we didn’t realize where they were until a couple of days ago. This is what immediately happened:

First day of school went well. For the boy and for me. I actually only cried the before we left the house. And it was mostly instantaneous mommy-guilt for losing my temper and yelling at him after he head-butted me while I was putting his shoes on. Yeah, we can get a little tempestuous. According to the teachers, he didn’t cry. According to the Chipmunk, he read a book about dinosaurs (confirmed) and played baseball (denied).

He’s been extra cuddly. It breaks me into a thousand slivers of woobiness.

I kissed him bye-bye and left him to a pile of puzzles. (Luckily, no one called me out on breaking the rules.)
